My Free SharePoint Intranet Designs Kit is now available in Figma
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m a big believer in out-of-the-box SharePoint. No third-party add-ons, no custom code – just clean, practical designs and solutions that your organization can actually use and maintain long-term without the need to pay for third-party support.
Over the years, I’ve published many examples of intranet layouts and department sites on my SharePoint Maven blog and LookBook 365 – my portfolio site, which I recently released. These designs have helped my loyal followers visualize the out-of-the-box possibilities of SharePoint and many other Microsoft 365 applications.
But I’ve also been getting one common request: “Greg, can we actually download these templates and customize them to our needs?” Yes! Now you can. Sort of! 😊
What is the SharePoint Intranet Designs Kit?
It looks like Figma is becoming the app of choice for graphic designers (kind of like SharePoint did for document management and intranets 😊). At the moment, I have designs for a few Intranet Homepages and Department sites, but I plan to expand and add many more down the road. I decided to make all of my custom designs, which I created and posted on LookBook 365, available for free in the Figma Community.
How to Use SharePoint Maven Intranet Designs Kit
So, for this to work and make sense, the assumption is that you are a graphic designer or have a graphic design guru in your organization. I outlined the instructions on how to use my kit within the Figma file, but the process is pretty straightforward:
- Access the SharePoint Maven Intrant Designs Kit in Figma Community at this URL.
- Browse the available designs and pick the one you like.
- Swap out logo, update colors, adjust text, layout, images, icons, and content to fit your organization.
- Export all the Figma assets to images and recreate the design in SharePoint using Flexible Sections and out-of-the-box web parts.
Not a Figma or SharePoint expert?
And here’s the best part – if your organization doesn’t have a graphic designer, you’re not comfortable working in Figma, or you’re simply not comfortable building pages in SharePoint, I can step in and help. I’ll customize the design for you and, once finalized, implement it in SharePoint so you get a polished intranet that’s practical, out-of-the-box, and ready to use.
