Design Ideas on SharePoint Pages
If you are the Site Owner and look to improve the look and feel of your SharePoint pages, we now have a nice tool built in called Design Ideas. Let me explain how this works.
Design Ideas in SharePoint are similar to Design Suggestions in PowerPoint, a built-in assistant that allows you to easily select from design improvements suggested by the application. It is based on those design ideas, which are derived from the initial content you add to the page. Here is how to use it.
- Edit the SharePoint page

- On the SharePoint page, all the way on the right, click on the “sparkle” icon

- To generate design ideas, you need to have either a blank section without content or a section with some content, such as text and images. Once that happens, you will see the Design Ideas generated on the right-hand side.

- To choose a particular suggestion, just click on it, and it will be added to the section.
- In the example below, I added some text and an image, and it resulted in several styling suggestions.

- Once I chose a specific design idea, it changed the layout and style of my section

- Likewise, it suggested a few styles for my Quick Links web part.

Nuances about Design Ideas on SharePoint Pages
- As of the writing of this post, Design ideas are generated only for blank sections or those with Text Web Part, Image Web Part, and Quick Links Web Part.

- According to Microsoft, the Design Ideas feature evaluates the content on your page when suggesting images and styling options.
- I strongly suggest that you also check out this excellent article from Microsoft on the Design Ideas feature for additional nuances and limitations.
