Happy 25th Birthday, SharePoint!

I was 25 myself when you were born. And though I did not meet you until you were 5, I fell in love with you. It was love at first sight. And we have been together ever since… For 20 years now…

March 28 marks 25 years since SharePoint was released back in 2001. Such a milestone is quite rare; there aren’t many applications that have been around for that long. It is also quite rare for a piece of software to have such a huge and loyal following. And I am proud to be one of such loyal followers.

Moreover, SharePoint is not just an application that I love and use daily. It is also a cornerstone of my career. Back in 2013, I started my consulting business, SharePoint Maven, and it is truly hard to imagine what my life would have been like now if it were not for SharePoint.

It’s also inspiring to see how much SharePoint has evolved over the years. From a clunky, awkward application in its early years, it transformed into a beautiful, sexy, and powerful engine for businesses, thanks to many design improvements and the integration of Copilot AI.

So happy 25^th Birthday, my love. Thank you for being part of my life over all these years, and thank you, Microsoft, for delivering such a healthy, handsome, and spirited baby!
